Footprints in the Sand

Some people leave behind not just a legacy of invaluable contribution to society, their country, technology, academic growth and processes but also, leave indelible footprints in our hearts, our minds, our souls. Rajeev Motwani was undoubtedly one of those precious gems. We, being part of his family had the privilege of many many interactions with him each time he came down to India from the U.S. and each encounter offered warm, light-hearted moments with him that resonated with his inherent humility, generosity, eagerness to help and share knowledge, and a genuine interest in people. A luminary in the Silicon Valley, he made innumerable strides in the field of software development and technological processes including mentoring the team that started Google, but in no way did he let his achievements come in the way of his demeanour. He remained ever so calm, humble, personally involved and more a listener than a speaker. His human qualities were so endearing and we will always cherish fond memories of our meetings with him. He contributed to the devlopment of software processes in Silicon Valley and in our country, and our country most seriously needs more people like him, though there can be none quite like him. It is with tears in our eyes that we say farewell to Rajeev knowing that wherever he incarnates, he’s bound to spread joy. He cast grooves in our hearts, our experiences, our memories and has left a void in lives that can never quite be filled.

  1. Dear Raju Chacha,
Life serves us the crudest stakes at the most unoppurtunate moments. When the entire world was sparkling with your achievements and the nobelity of your heart you were snatched away from your loved ones by the cruel hands of destiny. It's very difficult to reconcile with the fact that you are no longer with us but I must say that even though you lived for a mere 47 years you touched more than thousands of hearts in your wake who will always remember you as a cherished friend, humane mentor, loving uncle and father and a true human being.
I am sure that you are watching us from above and your guiding spirit will always lead us to live a life as glorious as yours.
    Yuvika
